A delegation of industrialists from Jammu representing the cement manufacturing units have met SP Singh Parihar, Chairman, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), to discuss the pending case for revocation of closure notices issued by the board.
The delegation was led by Lalit Mahajan, Chairman, Federation of Industries, Jammu, along with Ajit Bawa, Co-Chairman FOIJ and President, Kathua Industrial Unit Association.
"The delegation met the CPCB chief to discuss issues related to the pending cases for the revocation of closure notices issued by the Central Pollution Control Board, New Delhi to the Cement Manufacturing Units located in J&K," said Mahajan.
Mahajan informed the Chairman that information about the units that have installed online monitoring equipment has been given to the CPCB, but no action has been taken by the board so far.
The delegation apprehended that this might lead to closure of several units and lay off of thousands of workers.
The Central Pollution Control Board chief assured the delegation that the entity would take up the pending cases of the cement manufacturing units, which have already installed an online monitoring system, and revoke the closure order served to them immediately.
