Bulk material handling equipment from Tenova Takraf is put to good use in ports, stockyards, power stations, steel plants, the cement industry and more.
Transport crawlers, vital for the transport of large and heavy sub-assemblies of any kind, are also indispensable for opencast mining, head or tail stations of conveyor systems and semi-mobile crushing plants. Basically, transport crawlers can be used for all heavy transport tasks as per their specified payload. The Takraf series for transport crawlers can carry a payload weighing from 250 t to 1,200 t, including a gradeability of up to 20 per cent (1:5). The main component of a transport crawler is the substructure, with two travel gears which are rigidly connected with each other in case of use in smaller machines. Hinged crawler girders are used in bigger machines of sizes above 500T. The lifting platform, including a centric guide, is on the top of the substructure. The platform supports itself via hydraulic cylinders on the substructure. Fixed to the substructure as well, the transport crawler is optionally provided with an operator´s cabin. It is operated from the operator´s cabin or through radio control. Opposite to the operator´s cabin is the diesel engine coupled with hydraulic drive components. It is installed as a central unit in the substructure. All Takraf transport crawlers are diesel hydraulically driven.
Tenova Takraf has, so far, developed, designed and built nine transport crawlers and supplied them to its clients in Thailand, Chile, Saudi Arabia, Australia, Germany and China. The past four years were particularly successful for Takraf as it supplied four transport crawlers of 1 x RT 420, 2 x RT 350 and 1 x RT 250 design sizes. All transport crawlers are built, assembled and put into operation at the Lauchhammer works.
