Total shipments of Portland and blended cement in the United States and Puerto Rico in December 2016 were about 6.0 million tonnes (MT), down by 8.6 per cent from sales in December 2015.
The leading producing states for Portland and blended cement in December 2016 were Texas, California, Florida, Missouri, and Alabama, in descending order. The leading cement-consuming States (Texas, California, Florida, Georgia, and New York, in descending order) received 44 per cent of the December shipments. Sales for the entire year totalled 93.3 MT, up by 1.9 per cent from those in 2015 overall.
Clinker production totalled 5.5 MT in December 2016, down by 20 per cent from the output in December 2015. The leading clinker-producing states in December were, in descending order, Texas, California, Missouri, Florida, and Alabama. Production for the year totalled 75.7 MT, down slightly from that for the full year 2015
