The cement industry is crucial for the development of housing and infrastructure in a country. The per capita consumption of cement is a barometer of country’s development. India’s per capita consumption is quite low as compared to the developed countries and even a developing country such as China. Hence, the growth of the cement industry is directly linked to the quality of life and well-being of the people of the country.While cement companies are the players in infrastructure development, other support industries such as cement plant and machinery, ready mix concrete manufacturers and manufacturers of host of equipments and products required by cement manufacturers play a crucial role in ensuring uninterrupted production of cement, protection of environment, energy conservation, etc.In order to recognize the significant role played by these players, Indian Cement Review‘s 26th Anniversary Issue attempts to list some of the key players in these industrySince the number of players in the cement industry and its support industries is very large, it would be impossible to carry information on all the players due to space constraints. Hence, we have broadly categorized them into four segments and carried information about key players in each of these segments. We hope this information would be useful for cement companies and players in the support industries as well.
