Ambuja Foundation, in partnership with IndusInd Bank launched the integrated Water Resource Management Programme (IWRMP) in the Mahad area of Raigad district in Maharashtra. The joint initiative aims to address the various challenges related to water and agriculture prevalent in nine different villages of the Gandhari Catchments Cluster in the region.
The programme aims to create awareness among the villagers about water conservation practices through the implementation of extensive measures like soil water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and groundwater recharge. The IWRMP project focuses on achieving access to clean drinking water sustainably by using innovative technological solutions in the covered villages. These initiatives aim to extend the water retention period, reduce runoff and eventually boost income for villagers. The project also seeks to optimise agricultural practices.
As part of the programme, an innovative village resources centre was also inaugurated at Kinjloli BK Partekond. The centre will work as a knowledge hub creating awareness about water and agricultural best practices and techniques among villagers. The IWRMP project will also undertake related construction works in Raigadwadi (Koliawhad), Punadewadi, Kondaran villages to embody a commitment to infrastructural development corresponding with the broader objectives of the IWRMP.
