The Cement Manufacturers’ Association of Nepal has agreed to review the recent hike in the cement price in the Nepali market. The cement manufacturers made the commitment after Nepalese Minister for Industry Nabindra Raj Joshi during a discussion with them held at the Ministry urged them to support the state and the citizens by "taking minimum profit" in the present times as the first phase post-earthquake reconstruction has recently started.
Association President Dhruba Thapa apprised Minister Joshi that the production cost of cement in the country was one of the highest in South Asia.
He said although this was the case, the Association in deference to the government’s request would sent letters to its members to rethink the hike in price of cement "for the time being".
