The State government has asked the cement industry to reduce the price notified by the Centre further for the National Highway projects.
Industries Secretary S. Rawat said that the Centre had notified the price for procurement of cement for national highways projects in the range of Rs. 171 and Rs 220 per bag, which is less than the existing market price.
In a meeting convened by Chief Secretary I.Y.R.Krishna Rao to ensure supply of cement at concessional rate for the works undertaken by the government, Mr. Rawat said that he had a meeting with cement industry representatives for further price reduction and it would be finalised shortly.
The requirement for all government works would be around 30 lakh tonnes, while production stands at around 30 mt. The Industry Department would notify the prices factory-wise to facilitate all the engineering departments to follow the same rates for procurement, Rawat said.
