Guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has proposed to cement all major district and state roads from Zero Mile to Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) limits. In a recent meeting at public works department?s (PWD) chief engineer?s office, the proposal was discussed and will be soon sent to the Central Road Fund for approval. According to the minister, a superintendent engineer had been appointed as the nodal officer of the project. Out of the 62 works of state that were given administrative approval in the meeting of union ministry for road and surface transport held on February 3, 48 works come under the jurisdiction of Nagpur zone of PWD.
NMC has been cement concreting the roads of the city but the project has got delayed by months. The financial condition of the civic body and poor quality of work are the main reasons.
