As the demand from housing sector starts to peak, cement sales in Germany have gone up by 7.6 per cent in the first seven months of 2014. Though the improving economic conditions are a good sign, the rising cement prices may hamper the growth.
The German economy grew by 2.7 per cent in 2013, having expanded by 2.2 per cent in the previous year. This compares with growth rates of 3.9 per cent in 2011 and 5.1 per cent in 2010. Besides this, the unemployment level too has fallen by 5.2 per cent, a post-unification low.
