Lafarge and Holcim have released a list of countries where the two firms will be cutting down their production capacities to comply with the competition commission norms. Lafarge and Holcim had announced plans to merge their assets creating the largest cement manufacturing company in the world. The merger will be sealed by the first half of next year.
The list of countries where the JV will divest assets does not include India. Holcim has controlling stakes in ACC and Ambuja Cements. The two have a cumulative capacity of 58 mtpa, while Lafarge is over 11 mtpa.
