Ultratech Cement reported a fourth quarter standalone net profit of Rs 726.77 crore, compared with Rs 228.54 crore in the year ago quarter. Standalone net sales for the three-month period were Rs 4,490.13 crore, versus Rs 1,909.35 crore a year ago. The company’s total expenses during the three-month period rose 130 per cent year-on-year to Rs 3,695.86 crore, due to a surge in cost of raw materials. The company said the year-on-year earnings were not comparable due to the amalgamation of Samruddhi Cement with Ultratech Cement from July 1, 2010.
