Rockwell Automation offers model predictive control (MPC) software for pyroprocessing – cement application, which provides control and optimisation through patented, industry-leading technology. Through this software monitoring and controlling production can significantly reduce process variability, increase overall production rate, and reduce material losses as well as energy costs per tonne of final product. Using library-based content, this application can be easily configured to meet individual and specific operational objectives. This application predicts and controls multiple process parameters in real-time. It acts at a very high frequency for efficient and accurate calculation of controller setpoints and predicts internal process and quality parameters. The control actions are continually updated based on actual process values, while plant constraints are taken into account to meet throughput, energy and clinker specification objectives. Additionally, incoming feed rate is increased, process stability is improved, and energy usage from both primary and alternative fuels is reduced. Taking throughput and process conditions into account, clinker quality and consistency are controlled while responding to upsets and disturbances to maintain process stability. It promotes consistent process evaluation, energy awareness and predictive decision support.
