Ambuja Foundation had organised the ‘Sustainable Watershed Management for Climate Resilience’ event in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, to discuss the prevailing water concerns in the region, the challenges faced and the critical connection between water management and climate change impact. The major concerns discussed during the event shed light on the various factors contributing to the complex water dynamics in the region such as excessive soil erosion, dwindling rainfall patterns, recurring droughts and its adverse effects on agricultural productivity and soil moisture. The region suffers from erratic rainfall patterns combined with inadequate water management practices. Ambuja foundation along with National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development (NABARD) have been working together to fund various watershed initiatives across the state.
