The director of World Cement Association (WCA), Ali Emir Adiguzel, at their 6th Annual conference in Dubai said that the world has enough cement for the next 25 years and addressed the issue of overcapacity by pointing to a substantial drop in demand and noting that high input costs had led the sector to increase its prices by approximately 15 per cent in Europe. He also emphasised on the biggest challenge currently facing the industry are meeting stringent emission targets and enhancing carbon capture technologies.
He further added that despite the current achievements, there is still a lot more work to be done in the coming years in order to meet the net zero targets by 2050 and to reduce carbon emissions.
