CEMEX has announced that it has created a unique new system that tracks concrete as it is poured and hardens, measuring its strength in realtime while it is being built. Due to the sensors’ resemblance to spider legs, the technique is known as ‘Spider Tracker.’
Builders could remove the formwork, or moulds, at the ideal time and choose the concrete mix for their projects if they had more accurate and timely information regarding the concrete hardening process.
Due to the fact that these choices would result in less needless usage of cement, which has a greater carbon footprint than other materials, real-time knowledge on the product mix might potentially minimise the project’s carbon impact.
