WCA appoints Ian Riley as CEO

London – The World Cement Association announced today that it has appointed IanRiley as its first CEO, effective as of September 1, 2019. At the same time Norman Greig is retiring as Secretary General, a role he has held since the Association’s formation in 2016.

Ian has a wealth of international experience, having worked across the cement industry in Europe, America and Asia; most recently in China where he spent the last ten years as Country Head for LafargeHolcim.

One of Ian’s first responsibilities will be to oversee the third WCA World Cement Conference, taking place in Shanghai on 9-11 September.

At the same time, Norman Greig announced his retirement as the Association’s Secretary General, concluding a long and impressive international career in the cement industry. He has been instrumental in driving the growth of the WCA since inception, helping turn it into the world-leading organisation it is today.

Kirsty Monk, who is WCA Membership & Administration Manager and has also been with the Association since launch, will additionally take on the role of Company Secretary.

Meanwhile, WCA President Song Zhiping has been elected recently as Chairman of China Association for Public Companies (CAPCO). In this role, he will lead CAPCO on its work to improve the quality of listed companies as well as driving the enhancement of the overall regulation of China’s capital markets.

He is currently President of the World Cement Association, Chairman of China National Building Materials Group Corporation Limited (CNBM), President of China Enterprise Reform and Development Society, Academician of World Academy of Productivity Science.
