JSW Group will start construction of a proposed 2.4 mn t cement at Salboni in West Bengal early into the new year. The inauguration of the project, being set up by JSW Cement, is slated to take place on January 6, 2016 by the state chief minister Mamata Banerjee. The event will also be attended by Sajjan Jindal, Chairman and MD of JSW Steel Ltd. The Rs 700-crore cement project is expected to be ready for commissioning by the end of 2016.

The project would be set up on 150 acres out of more than 4,000 acres of land acquired by the JSW group for their proposed mega integrated steel cum power project at Salboni. The proposed 10 million tonne steel plant at Salboni remains stalled due to lack of iron ore linkages.
