Cement consumption in Spain goes down

Cement consumption in Spain has fallen by 7.5 per cent in May, reaching 965 465 tonne. This figure is 78, 535 tonne less than a year ago. As an example of the deep crisis in the sector, this is the lowest figure since May 1965. Cement consumption during the first five months of the year declined 2.7 per cent, with a total of 4,477,604 tonne, a figure 122,792 tonne less than in the same period of 2015. The CEO of Oficemen, Aniceto Zaragoza. said, "The consumption of cement in public works is now the lowest since the beginning of the historical series 25 years ago," Zaragoza said, adding, "it is necessary to reconcile the deficit reducti on solutions for economic growth, which does not happen only by the thinning of investment in public works."
