Owing to the recent crisis of increase in the percentage of nitrogen oxide emissions, the Government of China is mulling a stringent policy for emissions. As per a recent report, the new standard drafted by the Ministry of Environmental Protection is expected to be issued on 1st July. According to the report, the drafted report slated the cap to be set at 500 mg and is equivalent to that of advanced countries. The cement industry produces about 11.6 per cent of all NOx emissions across the country’s industrial sectors, and therefore, it has been targeted in the country’s move to address air pollution, particularly after hazardous smog repeatedly blanketed skies in the country since the beginning of this year. For those newly built cement production lines, the emission standard would be capped below 320 mg, it added.
