Sales will be low till September-October 2014 – VEDANT TRADERS, Proprietor, Nitin Mohta

Being in this industry for the last 14 years, we have seen the industry through good times and bad. Although the demand has increased in the last decade, the growth was stable the last year. We cater to the Jalna district of Maharashtra with around 500 to 600 tonnes of cement every month. We don’t expect any growth in demand in the coming months. Now with the elections on the horizon, there won’t be any construction activity for next two months at least. That will be followed by the seasonal slowdown due to monsoon. So the sales will be low till September-October 2014. Another factor compounding the problem is lack of construction sand. The government has stopped issuing permission for sand dredging, creating an acute shortage in the industry. There is hardly any awareness about manufactured sand in Jalna, so the situation may not be resolved soon. Even RMC is not picking up too well here.
