The Sri Lankan government, as part of its plan to establish new industrial estates within new and existing port structures, plans to establish four cement facilities adjacent to the country’s main ports.
By establishing these facilities on port premises reduces transport costs and makes it possible to sell the end-product at competitive prices, says the Sri Lanka Ports Authority.
The island nation government has granted lands on lease owned by the major ports of Colombo to Galle and Trincomalee to set up grinding and packing plants under the ‘One Cement Factory in One Harbour’ concept.
