Concrete Industry Sustainable Construction Strategy forum will now be publishing its sixth annual performance report, presenting performance data across a holistic set of indicators including materials, carbon, waste and material efficiency, biodiversity and water etc. The report published in 2012 had shown that the industry has met its performance targets in relation to environmental management, quality management, CO2 emissions, emissions to air and water, waste and waste materials as an alternative source of energy. The industry is now catching up on health and safety aspects.
Since carbon emission is one of the key metrics for assessing the sustainability of processes it was set as one of the goals. Through investment in innovation and efficient production technologies, the industry showed a 23 per cent reduction in CO2 from 1990.
