The Coastal Protection Council of Kollam has asserted its strong objection against the government decision to set up a cement packing godown at Kollam port. The council members alleged that the masterplan was finalised without considering the health hazards to the people.
´The godown would also affect the functioning of the traditional fishing harbour in Thankassery. The cold attitude of the officials concerned would result in protest programmes,´ the council members said. The Coastal Protection Council says that the setting up of the godown as it would cause serious health hazards to people.
