Cement unit sealed in J&K for not controlling pollution

In Jammu and Kashmir, authorities have sealed a cement factory in Wuyan area of Pulwama district on June 18 while giving 15 days’ time to another company to install pollution control equipment or face closure. District Magistrate, Pulwama, accompanied by Regional Director J&K Pollution Control Board and officers of Police inspected various cement manufacturing units in Wuyan area of Tehsil Pampore.

The team sealed Dawar Cement Manufacturing Plant on the spot. The team gave 15 days’ time to another plant, J&K Cement Manufacturing, Khrew, to install necessary pollution control equipment failing which the plant shall be sealed. Assistant Commissioner, Revenue, Shah Faisal said that there were complaints against some factories which are causing immense pollution to the area.
