Vicat Group, ommenced its cement production in South Maharashtra from its new plant at Gulbarga district in Karnataka. The Gulbarga plant is a joint venture between Vicat Group of France and Sagar Cements with 2.75 mtpa.. Vicat Group already has a joint venture (Bharathi Cement) in Kadapa district with 5 mt per annum capacity. With this announcement, Vicat Group’s cement capacity in the country has gone up to 7.75 mt a year making it amongst the top premium cement producers in South India, according to a company press release. The focus markets being various districts in south Maharashtra such as Kolhapur, Raigarh, Ratnagiri, Sangli, Sindhudurgh, Satara and Latur.
The plant is close to south Maharashtra market and major cities such as Pune and Mumbai and will supply cement to north Karnataka and Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh. said R Reddy, Sales Director.
