Owing to the reports of high pollution levels in China in January 2013, the Beijing Government has announced draft legislation aimed at tackling the problem. The draft suggests banning the construction of new steel and cement plants and shutting down sites when pollution crosses the limits. Industrial facilities and power plants would need to provide information about their emissions and could be fined for not adhering to the same. The draft also recommends limiting the usage of vehicles.
