A Group of Ministers (GoM) constituted by senior Andhra Pradesh politician Yanamala Rama Krishnudu has directed cement manufacturers to drop prices of the commodity to Rs 240 per bag for infrastructure work undertaken by various state departments.
According to the Andhra Pradesh government, these cement firms have agreed to drop prices, but state authorities would take necessary action if this does not happen.
The cement companies have been warned that the government would be "forced to charge higher amounts towards royalty" if they violated the current norms.
