Shree Cement’s Aurangabad (Bihar Grinding Unit) has been shut down because of problems with the Pollution Control Board. The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered the shutdown. This unit has a capacity of ~3.5 million tonnes (MT).
The management has said that they cannot offer further comments into this development, but the shutdown may last for few days. The unit was operating at ~70 per cent capacity. The management of Shree Cement says that volume impact may not be material because they will attempt to service the market through other units. However, volume impact could be ~0.1-0.2 MT in the current month.
