FORS has congratulated the second group of drivers graduating from Cemex?s Logistics Apprenticeship scheme, which aims to train new drivers and recruit a younger generation to the industry. The graduates have now become full-time Cemex drivers delivering cement and aggregates across the country. A combination of an aging professional driver workforce and a lack of young drivers being recruited has led to a driver shortage in the UK. The apprenticeship scheme, which recruits individuals aged 18 – 23, helps to address this issue. The programme is run in association with Cemex?s apprentice training provider, Systems Training.
