Holcim Indonesia has officially inaugurated its new cement terminal in South Lampung.
The investment is to the tune of $26 million. With this development, Holcim’s presence in the Sumatera Island market has been beefed up, particularly in Lampung.
"We want to get closer to our customers and ensure secured supply to meet the local demand in Lampung. This terminal applies the latest technology and environmental friendly equipment and a jetty to support the operation," said Gary Schutz, President Director, PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk.
Schutz underlined Holcim’s "commitment to invest" and the government’s key role in restoring the balance of demand and supply by spending on delayed projects that will affect other sectors such as housing and commercial building. "The (Indonesian) economy’s slowdown is not the only challenge for the cement sector in particular. The numerous additions to the national cement production capacity have led to a drastically over-supplied market outpacing demand by far for the next 6-10 years," he added.
