BEML Limited is a leading Miniratna (Category-I) multi-location, multi-product company under the Ministry of Defence, offering high quality products for diverse sectors of the economy such as coal, mining, steel, limestone, power, irrigation, construction, road-building, aviation, defence, Metro and railways. It has emerged as the forerunner of the heavy engineering industry, with a track record of growth for over five decades.
BEML operates its business in three verticals: mining & construction, defence, and rail & Metro.
The company has its corporate HQ and Central Marketing Division at Bengaluru and four manufacturing complexes with nine production divisions located in Bengaluru, Mysore and Kolar gold fields in Karnataka, and Palakkad in Kerala. BEML also owns a subsidiary – Vignyan Industries located at Tarikere, Karnataka, which manufactures steel castings for in-house consumption.
Our main products are bulldozers, walking draglines, electric rope shovels, rear dump trucks, excavators, motor graders, wheeled loaders, wheeled dozers, side discharge loaders, load haul dumpers, backhoe loaders, water sprinklers, pipe layers, tyre handlers, rail coaches, wagons, Metro coaches, ATT and other defence and railway products.

Marketing and Exports: BEML….s products are sold and serviced through its large marketing network and our sales & service centres, which cover the entire country through 12 regional offices, 19 district offices in addition to activity centres and spare parts depots at the doorstep of our customers. BEML….s products are exported to more than 63 countries including Indonesia, Morocco, Syria, Tunisia, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Suriname, South Africa, UK, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh etc. BEML has secured repeat orders from countries like Indonesia, Syria and Tunisia.
Quality: All the manufacturing divisions of BEML have been accredited with ISO 9001 – 2000 certification.
R & D: The company has a strong base of in-house design and development. There is an exclusive R&D Centre set up under UNIDO assistance, and it undertakes new product development with dedicated testing laboratories for power train, structural engineering, fluid power and material science. Five patents have been registered so far and more are in process.
What are your popular models of truck dumpers for the cement industry? How are they doing?
BEML has mainly supplied BH35-2 (35 ton) and BH60M (60 ton) dump trucks to its cement industry customers. All equipment are performing well, meeting customer requirements.
How do you provide after-sales service?
BEML reaches its customers with its large marketing network and sales & service centres, covering the entire country through 12 regional offices, 19 district offices in addition to activity centres and spare parts depots at the customer….s doorstep. We have service engineers posted at pitheads to extend 24×7 service.
Comment on time-based maintenance and condition-based maintenance. Which one do you advocate?
BEML recommends time-based maintenance to avoid any major failure. BEML also recommends condition-based maintenance for hydraulic excavators and critical equipment. Both are essential.
