Dispur MLA Atul Bora has started a tirade against Star Cement. The plant of the cement company has been notorious for pollution in the Dimoria area, besides the Pabitara Wildlife Sanctuary.
Talking to newsmen in the city, the MLA said, "I’ve sent a letter to State Industries Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary requesting him to take steps to evict Star Cement from Dimoria. The cement plant has polluted the entire area, besides damaging the road from Samata to Pabitora. I also told the government that if it doesn’t take steps to evict the cement plant, I’ll lead the people’s agitation against the cement plant."
Bora said the cement plant has "spelt doom" for the people of Dimoria, their culture and tradition. "The area could’ve been projected as a tourists’ spot by showcasing the local culture, craft, wicker works etc. However, the pollution by the cement plant spelt doom for the local culture," Bora said.
