Vivek Bhatia is to become the new CEO of ThyssenKrupp Asia Pacific, effective 1 October 2016. He succeeds Dr Stefan Schmitt, who will move to ThyssenKrupp AG as Head of Human Resources Strategy, as of 1 October 2016. Bhatia has been Head of Strategy, Markets and Development at the Regional Headquarters in Singapore since May 2014, before which he advised industrial businesses on their strategy and operations as part of the Boston Consulting Group for several years.
The Asia Pacific region includes several important growth markets for ThyssenKrupp: large, comparatively well-established economies such as Australia and Japan, but also a large number of markets of varying sizes offering dynamic growth such as Indonesia and Vietnam. The company generated sales of ??.0 billion with customers in the region in the past 2014/15 fiscal year and employs more than 4,100 people there.
