Following a blast in the hot air generator, four contract workers at an ACC cement plant in Sindri were severely injured. The injured were taken to Bokaro General Hospital where their condition was said to be critical.
Surendra Singh, a senior manager at the plant, said the four men were working near the generator, which is used to supply hot air to the rolling mill, when there was a blast in the pipeline. The workers sustained severe burns from the incident. They were immediately taken to the factory’s hospital and then referred to the district general hospital for more specialised treatment. Singh said factory management would airlift the men to any hospital for better treatment, if need be.
The area of the incident was sealed and people were stopped from visiting the factory.
