The Nagpur Municipal Corporation?s (NMC) cement concrete road project will be delayed by one more year. Commenced four years ago, the project?s original deadline was 2013. While executing the revised agreement in January this year, the NMC had given the contractor two more years to complete remaining works. Now, the contractor, Unity Infra Projects, has made it clear that it will take three years to complete the project.
With the new deadline set by the contractor, the project will take total seven years to complete. The project is to convert 25.93 km road from existing bitumen to cement concrete. This means the NMC would take one year to construct cement concrete road of 3.70 km. Going by past experiences, the chances of the project getting delayed even after the extended time period cannot be ruled out. The NMC has already incurred financial loss of Rs 45.29 crore due to inordinate delay in the project.
