By using cutting edge technology and decades of experience our engineers offer solutions which are clean, safe and with uninterrupted operations which not only reduces energy consumptions but also environment friendly, says Mehul Mohanka, Director Global Business, Tega Industries. Excerpts from the interview…

What is the current status of the bulk material handling equipments and systems?
Due to slowdown in economic growth, new investments in mining, power, cement and port are moving slowly. Hence equipment growth is expected to remain flat in short term. Cement sector experienced a reduction in volume in March 2015 quarter. The capacity utilisation is at 71 per cent. All-India cement production increased only 1.8 per cent between October 2014 to March 2015. In the April to September 2014 period it grew by 9.7 per cent. The government?s recent focus on road projects, housing for all, and an increase in state allocations will drive infrastructure and housing demand. We expect the cement industry to grow 7-8 per cent in 2016. However, unless capacity utilisation increases it would be difficult to justify new investments in the cement. We expect a new capacity addition of 25-30 MTPA over FY16-FY17 span.

What are the technological trends in BMHE industry?
Dust separation, ropeway conveyors (20 km @10000 TPH); silo flow device (restrict jamming, gypsum hopper/arching/snowman effect), advanced belt tracking system (address belt sway); advanced screening system with high efficiency; innovative composite liners – Combi Liner Technology (to arrest impact, abrasion with enhanced flow promotion) are some of the developments. Tega Industries has come up with state of the art ?Belt Tracking System? and ?Belt Scrappers.?

How do you ensure low cost per tonne of material moved?
By proposing to our customers a spillage free and power optimised conveying with minimal maintenance requirement, we ensure our customers experiences the lowest cost of operations which in turn reduces cost per tonne of material handled

Have you launched any new products/systems lately?
We have launched an innovative ?tracker roller? in collaboration with our European partner; we are on the verge of introducing three new type of ?belt scrappers.? We have tried new propositions such as ?spillage free solution? and ?impact and flow-ability solutions? at steel and mining industries.

What is the response of the industry to the newer developments you propose?
We have received impressive response from customers on ?spillage free solution? and ?impact and flow-ability solutions?. We plan to replicate the same to other industries such as cement.

Where do you see the industry headed in future?
New investment growth is muted hence BMH equipment outlook is flat in short term. In long term, with boost in infrastructure, we expect developments of cement and ports.
