The company has selected important needs of the people for its CSR operations. Medical helps, i.e., health checkup, education, drinking water and sports are the areas where the company operates its CSR activities.
Monthly medical camps: Monthly medical camps are organised in these villages. Besides the company?s medical officers, specialists are invited and medical checkups are conducted. Free medicines are distributed to the villagers. Continuous follow up for medically treated people is done by the CSR department and if needed, they are shifted to nearby government hospitals.
Dialysis centre: In Satna government hospital, the company has established a dialysis centre with an investment of Rs 40 lakh and also donated an ambulance for transporting the patients.
Malnutrition control measures: KJS has established rehabilitation centre for all those children who are suffering from malnutrition problem and is supplementing the nutrition requirement of these patients by providing medically advised food, i.e., wheat, rice, and pulses. These nutrition foods are provided every month to ensure that no child suffers from malnutrition in the district. This programme has been launched under the guidance of Collector, Satna and KJS takes a lead in this noble cause. Schools: Washrooms have been constructed in the schools of these 12 villages for facilitation of school going children and are maintained by the company.
Anganwadi centres: Anganwadi centres in these villages are being maintained by the company and the mid-day food and education facilities inclusive of the salary to the teachers for the small children is paid by the company.
Education: Education kits comprising bags, notebooks and stationery are given to all the school going children from nursery to 12th class in 20 schools and colleges in the 12 adopted villages.
Scholarship: Scholarship is granted to meritorious students every year to motivate them in their future education.
Vocational training: The company has initiated vocational training to train ITI-passed youths of these villages and presently 160 trainees are being trained in mechanical, electrical and instrumentation fields. Besides, for job training they are imparted class room training by expert managers from the respective fields. After training, these trainees are given employment by the company as and when vacancies arise. Computer training: To promote computer operation to the college going students, a computer lab has been established and 120 days of training for computer operation is imparted to these youths by the IT professionals of the company. After this training, these trainees take up employment in various industries as data entry operators and other computer-related jobs.
Sports activities: Every year, annual tournaments are organised under the banner of ?KJS Cricket Cup?, wherein 16 teams participate from various villages and winners are given away prizes and sports kits.
Pollution control measures in popular Maa Sharadha Devi Temple: The company has established continuous ambient air quality monitoring station to monitor the pollution level by spending Rs 40 lakh in this project. The company spent about Rs 20 lakh for the face-lifting of Maa Sharadha Devi Temple premises.
Veterinary camps: Based on the requirements of the villagers, the company under its CSR activities has launched massive veterinary camps in these villages with the help of Block Development Officers and Specialist Veterinary Doctors.
Facility of fire tender and ambulance: In case of any requirement, the company makes available the fire tender and fully equipped ambulance as and when needed by the villagers in these villages free of cost.
Maihar Stadium: Since the plant is established in Maihar town, the company did not shrink of its responsibility to improve this town and about Rs 10 lakh has been spent on maintenance of the Maihar Stadium.
Indirect employment: To provide indirect employment to the villagers who have tractors and trolleys, the company has engaged 40 tractors and trolleys for its internal material shifting and provided employment to 150 people from the villages.
Infrastructure activities: School buildings of these villages are being regularly maintained and Panchayat Bhavans are constructed for the people of these villages. Repairing roads and bridges is a regular function of the company?s CSR activities. Drinking water: There is acute shortage of drinking water in the rural areas of Madhya Pradesh. Since, we have adopted these villages, regular drinking water supply from the company is maintained through tankers and storage tanks have been constructed for storage of water in these villages.
Green plantation: Every year, 10,000 saplings are planted to maintain the clean and green environment in these 12 villages. To ensure the survival rate of 96 per cent, the company maintains these plants.
