The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, J J Jayalalithaa, has announced the ?Amma Cement? scheme, similar to other schemes in the state for food and water. With this scheme, low and middle income families will be offered a 50 kg bag of cement for Rs.190. Homebuilders constructing a 100 sq ft house will get 50 bags, while those building a 1500 sq ft house could get a maximum of 750 bags. Those renovating or repairing their houses will be able to purchase 10 ? 100 bags.The government has planned to purchase 2 lakh t cement from private cement manufacturers every month, which will be sold through various means across the state.
