Work begins on Pakistan bulk terminal

Pakistan is on its way to get the country?s first International Bulk Terminal at Port Qasim, for handling coal, clinker and cement. Port Qasim is located 50 km from Karachi, on the coast line of the Arabian Sea.The state-of-the-art multi-purpose cargo handling facility will be built at an estimated cost of US$ 250 mn, it will be able to handle 4Mta of cement and clinker as well as 12Mta of coal. It is expected to be operational by 2016. The new terminal will help Pakistan cement and clinker export operations by providing common user facilities to existing producers once it becomes operational.
