HDFC to invest Rs 2,400 crore in property market

The real estate investment arm of the HDFC Group, HDFC Property Fund, will be investing Rs 700 crore in four residential projects coming up in NCR, Pune and Bangalore. The investment will be backed-up by the funds out of its offshore investment budget of Rs 1500 crore, which was pooled from international institutional investors. HDFC plans to raise additional Rs 900 crore taking the total planned fund corpus to Rs 2,400 crore.Of the total cement manufactured in India, more than 60 per cent of it is consumed by housing sector. The real estate growth has been sluggish in last fiscal year. This investment by HDFC will infuse the much needed capital in the cash deficit market.
