CBI suspects fraudulent coal block allocation in MP

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is suspecting fraudulent allocation of the Thesgora B/Rudrapuri coal block to Madhya Pradesh based Revati Cements. The agency has filed an FIR in the coal block allocation scam aga-?inst Revati Cement directors Umesh Shara, Kailash Shara and Chinmaya Palekar.

The FIR will also include unnamed members of the 36th screening committee. The CBI has been conducting raids in Indore and Satna in Madhya Pradesh as a part of this investigation. The agency observed that the screening committee deliberately did not follow the guidelines and showed undue favour to Revati Cements.

This is only one of the several cases that CBI is investigating and 22 FIRs are already filed by CBI pertaining to fraudulent coal block allocations. The agency had registered two FIRs last week in the coal scam at the reference of the Central Vigilance Commission. CBI may also register chargesheets against former Coal Secretary, H C Gupta and former Jharkhand Chief Secretary, A K Basu.
