Dalmia Cement Managing Director Puneet Yadu Dalmia said that the company plans to spend nearly Rs 500 crore over the next few years to refurbish and add capacity to two cement plants it acquired last year. The company will have to spend at least Rs 100 crore to upgrade machines at the 1.5 million tonne (mt) cement factory at Meghalaya, which it acquired from Adhunik Group in September.

Dalmia Cement also proposes to invest Rs 400 crore to raise the production capacity of Calcom Cement India. The clinker-making capacity of Calcom Cement’s Assam plant will be raised from 2,40,000 tonne a year to 1.2 mt and its annual grinding capacity will be ramped up by 70 per cent to 1.7 mt. Dalmia Cement acquired a 50 per cent stake in Calcom Cement initially, then raised it to 76 per cent.
