Dalmia Cement to up its capacity by 5 mta

Dalmia Cement plans to invest Rs 18 billion ($334 mn) over the next two years to lift capacity by 5 million metric tonne annually (mta) through a new greenfield plant and expanding its facilities in northeast India, Puneet Yadu Dalmia, Managing Director of Dalmia Cement, told the media.

Dalmia said that the company’s total capacity will increase from the current 17 mta to 21 mta by the end of the process. It will invest Rs 13 billion in its upcoming 2.5 mta Greenfield plant in Belgaum city in Karnataka state while its plants in the northeast of India will require an investment of around Rs 5 billion for capacity expansion.

The company’s total capacity would be 21 mta by March 2014, he said. Dalmia recently acquired Meghalaya-based Adhunik Cement for Rs 5.6 billion and had also raised its stake in Calcom Cement India.
