Kerala's cement dealers to shut shops from Nov 15

Protesting the inclusion of cement in Notified Goods list cement dealers in Kerala have announced a protest programme of an indefinite closure of their shops from November 15.The dealers, as part of their protest, have decided to stop bringing cement to the state from November 1 onwards and to stop purchase from November 10, Kerala Cement Dealers Association General Secretary MV Sakeer Hussain said in Kozhikode. It also decided to organise a protest convention on November 5 at Thiruvananthapuram, he said.The government was ‘harassing; the cement dealers by including it in the the Notified Goods List because of which transportation of cement would be delayed incurring additional cost which would only be passed on to the consumers, he alleged.Despite submitting memorandas to the Chief minister, Finance Minister and officials no action had been done, he alleged.
