SSAB Hardox wear plates provide long-term wear qualities to cut costs.
Quarrying and TransportIn limestone quarries, Hardox is being used in buckets and dumper bodies. They are subjected to impact, abrasion and high loadings. The combination of Hardox 400, Hardox 450 and Hardox 500 make it possible to optimize the loading performance as well as service life.High performance dumper bodies are nowadays built in Hardox 500. But hardox 550 is an emerging star. The low tar weight and high pay load made it possible by its structural properties of Harodx 500 and the wear resistance properties coming from its 500 Brinell hardness that gives a long service life and good economy.CrushersHardox 500 and Hardox 550 are good choices for feed hoppers and feeder tables of the primary crusher. The screens of different types are used before and after the crusher, its good flame cutting and welding properties makes Hardox 500 ideal for making spare parts for aperture and grid screens.Raw MillsIn roller mills where the final crushing of the raw meal is being made the Hardox 500 and Hardox 550 is well suited for wear protection in discharge chutes, the louver plates and rotor seal rings. In the separator where the deflection plates needs to withstand extreme abrasion from fine particles, Hardox 600 is the best choice.ConveyorsIn various types of conveyors, Hardox 450 and Hardox 500 wear plates can be used for side guides. The excellent weldability, bendability and machinability give possibilities to tailor made wear parts which can easily be mounted. The screws for screw conveyors also can be produced in Hardox 450 and Hardox 500.With lime stone in sliding wear, Hardox 500 wear plate can last over three times longer than mild steel. This can also be used to reduce weight which enables easier maintenance work. In extreme wear situations, Hardox 600 is the ultimate choice for side guides.Bucket ElevatorsTo reduce wear rate and deformations, Hardox 450 in 3.2 mm is the perfect choice for bucket elevators. By using the excellent bendability in Hardox 450, lightweight buckets can be made without stiffeners which reduce the cost for welding. The reduced load on the elevator chain will lead to reduced wear on sprocket wheels and furthermore reduce the maintenance cost. Hardox 450 and Hardox 500 can be used for wear protection in the elevator housing.Hardox – The Best Alternative"The cement production operations at Cementa cause enormous wear of the equipment, and we have come to appreciate the good bending and welding properties of Hardox in our maintenance and repair work. It’s also easy to drill and countersink. This makes the maintenance work easier and shortens the repair stoppages. The fact that Hardox lasts longer under these wear conditions makes things even better." Jan Erickson of Cementa – SwedenWorkshop Handling of Hardox Hardox can be thermally cut, welded, bent, drilled and machined using ordinary workshop equipment even though Hardox is generally workshop friendly and easy to handle. We strongly recommend a consultation with the local SSAB application engineer or the SSAB Oxel?sund special brochures before handling a Hardox grade for the first time in your shop. For more information, visit our website at www.ssab.com
