Safety norms must for cement factories

Former chief inspector of factories and advisor to National Safety Council-Tamil Nadu chapter D Vasudevan has said that cement factories should play a vital role in checking pollution by strictly adhering to specified norms.At the inauguration of a two-day training programme on ‘health and safety management in cement industries’, organised by Tiruchi sub-committee of National Safety Council recently Vasudevan expressed satisfaction over the strict implementation of safety norms on the cement factories in Tamil Nadu.This, he said, has resulted in the reduction of accidents, particularly fatal accidents at the cement plants. P Bose, Joint Chief Inspector of Factories, and also Chairman of Tiruchi sub-committee of National Safety Council (NSC), who spoke on the objective of the training course, said a cluster of cement factories was present in the central region in and around Tiruchi.SK Palaniappan, vice president, India Cements, Sankagiri, insisted on the safety measures to be adopted at the cement plants. He specifically underlined the role of managers in averting industrial accidents.
