Workshop on: Operation and maintenance of fabric filtersDr. Georg Rathwallner of Evonik Fibres GmbH dwells on fabric filters during Powder and Bulk solid Exhibition on March 13 , at AhemedabadBag Material Selection: The participant shall get an overview on available bag materials, selection criteria and operating limits. The effect of different bag materials on the total operating costs (i.e. with respect to ID-fan power, annual costs for bags and loss of production during maintenance stops) will be discussed.Operating Parameters for Successful OperationTypical layout criteria and procedures for safe start-up and shutdown will be presented, with reference to different industries.MaintenanceWell planned maintenance stops can prevent from a loss of production and violation of emission limits. Certain documentation of replacements and some relevant operating parameters takes just little effort but is essential for proper planning of maintenance work. Documentation of (premature) bag failures allows planning of preventive replacements of single bags and is a good starting point to solve local problems in your bag house (e.g. as a result of condensation or uneven flow distribution).Bag Condition Monitoring & Trouble ShootingThe identification of different failure patterns and solutions how to increase bag life and performance will be an important part of the workshop. Bag condition monitoring and documentation of relevant operating parameters allow early identification of upcoming failures. This allows planning of maintenance stops in advance and is a good base for optimisation of the bag material. Methods for on-site checks of filter bags will be shown as well as laboratory methods.Complementary offer to workshop participants:Are you in charge of a bag house? Do you want to know how it performs in comparison to benchmarks from the industry? Are you facing any problems or is the performance not as expected? Please contact us and we will send you a 1 page questionnaire: georg.rathwallner@evonik.com or fax it to +43 7672 92046 3925We will evaluate the performance of a filter unit in comparison to references documented in our database and conduct a laboratory investigation of a used bag if indicated. If you don’t find time to participate Powder & Bulk Solids, please feel free to also contact us for an evaluation of your bag house performance. An initial evaluation and recommendation is free of charge. In case of questions you can contact our local representative in Mumbai: Ashish Bhaiya – phone: +91 22 6723 8861 – e-mail: ashish.bhaiya@evonik.comEvonik Fibres GmbH – Ensuring efficiency and longevityEvonik Fibres GmbH is a subsidiary of Evonik Industries AG, one of the world’s leading speciality chemicals companies. At its locations in Lenzing and Sch?rfling, Austria, the company manufactures high performance products and is the world`s only commercial producer of thermostable and non-flammable polyimide fibres with multilobal cross section, sold under the trade name P84?.
