Price increase announced by cement manufacturers in South Pakistan

Increases in cement prices have been announced by manufacturers in South Pakistan b Rs 50 to Rs 100 per tonne. Price increases from RS 100 per tonne to Rs 7,100 per tonne have been announced by Thatta Cement and Al-Abbas Cement. Lucky Cement and Attock Cement have announced a rise in their prices by Rs 50 per tonne to Rs,7,550 per tonne and Rs 7,650 per tonne respectively.The Pakistan cement industry has seen an overcapacity of 12.8 million tonnes following Fauji Cement bringing its 7,200 tonnes per day plant onstream. However, domestic cement prices have been steady at Rs 400 per bag.As per the latest figures issued by the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturing Association (APCMA), in 1HFY12, 15.4 million tonnes of cement was sold by cement manufacturers in Pakistan, YoY improvement of 4 percent when compared to 14.8 million tonnes in 1HFY12. Total dispatches in December 2011 saw a rise by 19 percent MoM to 2.7 million tonnes as compared to 2.3 million tonnes in November 2011.
