The Himachal Pradesh government has drawn flak for failing to honoring its promise for reducing cement prices and misleading people by claiming falsely that prices had been controlled.The Dhumal led government in the state has been criticized by the CPI (M) party for claiming falsely that cement prices have been reduced by Rs 25 per kg. The prices, in reality, have been reduced only by Rs 10 per bag. The cost of a cement bag in neighboring states is Rs 265 to Rs 295 which is less by Rs 35 to Rs 50 per bag than the price level in Himachal.It has also been stated that inspite of incentives being provided to major cement players in the state, high prices continued to prevail.
