Two cement units are to be set by at Gulbarga, Karnataka by Bharathi Cement, a wholly owned domestic unit of French cement company Vicat Group. The investment for the Karnataka units is pegged at Rs 1,400 crores. The units will have a combined capacity of 5.5 mt while a line of 2.75 mt will commence operations in the second half of 2012.Following the completion of the two units, the company expects to double its turnover to Rs 2,000 crores by 2013. The company’s turnover from its existing plants in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh is expected to be over Rs 1,000 crores in 2011.The present production capacity of the company is pegged at 5 mt. It expects to increase the capacity to 7.5 mt in 2012 and double it to 10.5 mt by 2015-16.
